The project provides an efficient, environmentally friendly, and cost-effective charging solution for electric vehicles, while enhancing the energy utilization and operational profitability of the parking lot.
Project Introduction
The project is located in a large commercial parking lot in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA. It provides an efficient, environmentally friendly, and cost-effective charging solution for electric vehicles, while enhancing the energy utilization and operational profitability of the parking lot.
Project Details
The entire solar-storage-charging system covers an area of approximately 2,000 square meters. The photovoltaic generation system has an installed capacity of 0.5 MW, with 1,250 high-efficiency monocrystalline silicon solar panels arranged in a block layout to fully utilize the parking lot’s rooftop and idle spaces.
The energy storage system consists of lithium battery storage cabinets with a total capacity of 215 kWh, which can store excess electricity generated by the solar panels and supply power to the charging stations during nighttime or periods of insufficient sunlight.
The charging station area is equipped with 10 fast-charging stations, each with a 60 kW charging power, capable of meeting the electric vehicle charging needs of surrounding users. On average, each charging station can handle 15 to 20 charging sessions per day.
Applications
During the day, when sunlight is abundant, the photovoltaic system supplies electricity to the charging stations while storing excess power in the energy storage system. At night or during cloudy weather, the energy storage system discharges power to continue supplying the charging stations, ensuring uninterrupted charging services. For electric vehicle users, this system allows them to charge their vehicles at any time and location with lower costs and faster speeds, effectively alleviating “range anxiety.”
Main Equipment
Photovoltaic Panels: High-efficiency monocrystalline silicon panels with a photoelectric conversion efficiency of over 20.5%, offering excellent low-light performance to continue generating power in the early morning, evening, or on cloudy days, making them suitable for the changing climate conditions of Las Vegas.
Energy Storage System: Lithium battery storage cabinets with a long cycle life of over 6,000 cycles and high charge-discharge efficiency, enabling efficient storage and release of electricity within a short time.
Charging Stations: Capable of peak charging power up to 250 kW, significantly reducing charging time and enhancing the user experience. The stations also support multiple payment methods for convenience.
