2 MWh Microgrid Project

The project combines the advantages of photovoltaics, energy storage, and diesel generators. It was delivered and put into operation within 65 days, providing continuous energy support for the production of the local factory.



Project Introduction

This project is located in a sun-rich area along the coast of Eritrea, addressing the off-grid power supply issue for a local factory.

Since the project location has no access to the grid, the project provides a stable, green, and efficient power supply for the factory by configuring a 250 kW/2 MWh solar-storage-oil hybrid system.

The off-grid microgrid energy storage system is mainly used for industrial power supply.

Project Configuration

The project is equipped with a 252 kW photovoltaic system, combined with a 2 MWh energy storage system.

Main Equipment

  • Photovoltaic System: Utilizes the abundant local sunlight resources for power generation.
  • Energy Storage System: 2 MWh energy storage system, equipped with a high-voltage battery box.
  • Solar-Storage Inverter Unit: Integrates both photovoltaic and energy storage inverters.
  • Diesel Generator: Serves as a backup power source to ensure necessary power support when photovoltaic generation is insufficient.

The Satellite Communication Energy Cabinet is a PV energy storage cabinet from Highjoule Technology Group designed specifically for off-grid satellite communication sites. The system consists of PV modules, an MPPT solar controller, an LFP (Lithium Iron Phosphate) battery pack, a thermal management system, and a power distribution unit, forming a complete off-grid PV generation and energy storage system that provides stable power to satellite communication base stations. The system adopts a modular design and can be efficiently operated and maintained via local and remote monitoring. It supplies 48V DC and AC 120V–200V power to satellite and other industry communication equipment, supporting floor-standing and pole-mount installation.

The Site Hybrid Power System is a next-generation multi-energy integrated power supply for 4G/5G base stations, communication equipment rooms, edge data centers, and outdoor compact sites. It breaks the traditional “single grid input, single DC output” architecture to achieve multi-source energy input + multi-voltage output + intelligent coordinated dispatch. At the site level, it accommodates grid power, PV, energy storage, diesel generators, and other sources, delivering a highly reliable, efficient, and simply deployable power framework for 5G equipment, transmission equipment, and IoT loads. Power range: 6 kW–36 kW; available in both 3U and 1U circuit breaker configurations.

The Stacked-PV MPPT Solar Controller is specially developed for PV capacity expansion at base station sites. Using a series-connection scheme, the system consists of PV modules, a stacked-PV MPPT controller, and a DC meter. Each PV string is series-connected to the controller, which steps down the module output voltage to −48V and injects it onto the rectifier output busbar to supply DC loads. Designed for communication base stations, it supports wall-mount and pole-mount installation. The product is available in outdoor and rack-mount versions.
